Obituary of Alexander J. Bohen

BOHEN , ALEXANDER J. Age 89 of Horseheads , NY passed away on Wednesday November 12 , 2014 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Alexander was born April 6 , 1925 in Brooklyn , NY the son of the late Alexander and Anna Donlon Bohen. He was a proud Decorated Veteran of World War II serving his country with Patton's Third Army , 4th Armored Division and was awarded The Silver Star . His unit was involved in The Invasion of Normandy , The Battle of The Bulge , and served in Central Europe , Northern France , and the Rhineland and he received The European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal . Mr. Bohen married his wife , Gloria E. Jones Bohen , on June 3 , 1950 and they recently celebrated their 64 th Wedding Anniversary . Al was retired from Ann Page in Horseheads, NY after several years of dedicated service . He was a communicant of St. Mary Our Mother Church , American Legion Post # 442 , and a former member of The Horseheads Elks Lodge # 2297. Al was pre-deceased by his son Stephen Bohen in January 2014. Al loved golf and hit two holes-in-one. He enjoyed dancing , especially rock and roll and swimming . He never gave up trying to keep his legs straight when diving ! Al never met a stranger and always had a joke to tell . Al is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 64 years Gloria E. Jones Bohen ; daughter : Deborah M. Bohen of Brooklyn , NY ; daughter-in-law : Mun Chan (Mrs. Stephen) Bohen of Queens , NY ; niece Carol Ann Dawkins ; brothers-in-law Adam and Bill ; sister-in-law Lillian along with several other nieces , nephews , and a host of caring friends. A Memorial Mass and Interment in St. Mary Our Mother Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family .
