Obituary of John Bertarnd VanWhy

VANWHY JOHN BERTRAND "BERT" Age 86 of Horseheads, NY passed away on Wednesday June 1, 2016. He was born on October 31, 1929 in Horseheads, NY to the late John and Mona Baldwin VanWhy. He was a Veteran of the Korean War serving his country with the U.S. Army. Bert married his wife Janice Fischer VanWhy on July 4, 1953 and they would have celebrated their 63rd Wedding Anniversary on July 4, 2016. He retired after over 40 years as a Salesman for S.C. Hansen in Horseheads, NY. He was a long time member of the Living Word Evangelical Free Church. He was pre-deceased by his brother Richard VanWhy. Mr. VanWhy is survived by his loving wife Janice Fischer VanWhy of Horseheads, NY; sons and daughters-in-law: Dave and Lori VanWhy of Erin, NY; Terry and Sasha VanWhy of GA; grandchildren: Libby VanWhy and Paul Rossi; Leah VanWhy and Rob Brecher; Nathan VanWhy; Jacob VanWhy and Victoria and Cody Johnson; great grandchildren: Zhane, Hailey and Dodge Johnson; sister-in-law and brothers –in-law: Cheryl and Bob Pierce; Robert Hadock; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of caring friends. A Memorial Service will be held at the Living Word Evangelical Free Church 1119 Lake Street Elmira, NY on Saturday June 4, 2016 at 11 AM. Internment in Maple Grove Cemetery at the convenience of the family where Full Military Honors will be accorded Mr. VanWhy.
