Obituary of Clarence John Doner

DONER , CLARENCE JOHN Age 71 of Horseheads , NY passed away on Sunday August 14 , 2016 at The Arnot Ogden Medical Center. John was born May 29 , 1945 in Wellsboro , PA the son of the late Clarence D. and Bertha P. Walker Doner. He was a graduate of Horseheads High School Class of 1964 . John was a Vietnam Veteran serving his country with The U.S. Army. He married his wife Sheila M. Villeneuve Doner in 1972 and she pre-deceased him on October 30 , 2015 after celebrating 43 years of marriage. John had worked at Spaulding Bakery , Elmira Chrysler Plymouth , Cornell University , and retired as a chef with Corning Inc. and Watkins Glen International . John was a member and Past Commander of Bentley-Trumble American Legion Post # 442 in Horseheads , NY. In addition to his parents , John was pre-deceased by his sisters Beverly J. ( Mrs. Lawrence) Vaughan , Rosetta M. ( Mrs. John) Yokimishyn , and Nancy ( Mrs. James) Wood . He spent many hours volunteering at The American Legion in Horseheads , NY . John loved his family and friends and treasured the time he spent with them . John is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law: Joseph & Kimberly Doner of Horseheads , NY, John and Kristie Doner of Swansboro , North Carolina , and Michael & Bonnie Doner of Horseheads , NY ; grandchildren : Cullen , Summer , Paige , Chase , Morgan , Tyler , and Gwen ; brother and sister-in-law : Richard & Janice Doner of Mansfield, PA ; several sisters-in-law , brothers-in-law , nieces , nephews , cousins , and a host of caring friends . Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS , NY on Wednesday August 17 , 2016 from 6-8 PM . John's Funeral Services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 8 PM. John will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Sheila in Maple Grove Cemetery on Thursday August 18 , 2016 at 2:30 PM where Full Military Honors will be accorded Mr. Doner.
