Obituary of C. Richard Tate

TATE , C. Richard "Dick" Age 90 of Horseheads , NY passed away on Friday October 26 , 2012 as the result of a motor vehicle accident. Dick was born June 14 , 1922 in Sayre , PA the son of the late Charles Henry Tate and Irene Baxter Tate . He grew up in Troy , PA and graduated from Troy High School . Dick was a Veteran of World War II serving his country with The U.S. Army. He married his wife, Matilda Oparil "Tillie" Tate , on September 21 , 1946 and they dedicated their live to each other until he death on June 30 , 2007. Dick was also pre-deceased by his sister Dorothy Irene Tate Puro and by his brother-in-law Stanley Oparil Jr. . Dick was the owner of Tate Equipment in Horseheads , NY since 1968 as a businessman with the highest degree of integrity. He was a member of Horseheads Old Oak Lodge # 364 F & AM . Dick enjoyed travelling and finding new products and services for his business in order to better serve the community. Dick is survived by his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law : Clara Johnson of Webster , NY , Suzanne Oparil , M.D. of Birmingham , Alabama , Marjorie (Mrs. Stanley) Oparil of Elmira , NY , and Richard & Marilyn Oparil of DeWitt , New York ; nephews and nieces and their spouses : Linda Puro Dudman of Rochester , NY , Gary & Gail Johnson of Geneseo, NY , David & Rita Johnson of Webster , NY , Steven & Julie Johnson of Hampton , N.H. , Stanley ("Jake") Oparil & Stacey Oparil of Elmira , NY , Richard Oparil & Donna DeSilva of Washington , D.C. , Donald & Debbie Puro of Ann Arbor , MI , Barbara & Robert Rosenthal of Hampton , ME , and Nancy & Stephen Yarnell of Minoa , NY ; several grand nieces , grand nephews , cousins , and a host of caring friends. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS , NY on Thursday November 8 , 2012 from 9-10:30 AM . Officers and Members of Horseheads Old Oak Lodge #364 will conduct a Memorial Service at the conclusion of calling hours at 10:30 AM . Mr. Tate's Funeral Services will be held following his Masonic Memorial Service with the Rev. Anne L. Mowery officiating. Dick will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Tillie. Those wishing may remember Dick through memorials to a charity of one's choice.
