Guy William "Bill" Cheney age 87 of Waverly, NY passed away peacefully on Monday March 24, 2025. He was born April 24, 1937 in Corning , NY the son of the late Guy William Cheney and Catherine Gelinas Cheney. In addition to his parents, Guy was pre-deceased by his sons Guy William Cheney and Daniel Cheney and his beloved granddaughter Madison Harford Naquin. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend. Bill was the best cook, spending years hosting the family's beloved Sunday dinners. He was a devoted grandfather who felt immense pride in each of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bill was very involved in his grandchildren's lives being seen as an adopted grandpa to many of their friends. His infectious smile and laugh made him a staple within the community and his job at Jim's Marine and Travel for over 20 years. His warm and inviting hugs will be missed by all. Bill is survived by his loving sister Alice Cheney Siefert ; his beloved children: Christina Volpi, Katherine and Ted Mann, Ed and Michaelle Cheney, and Melissa Cheney; his cherished grandchildren: Sandy Mann (Ron Johnson), Allycia Mann, Joseph (Jennifer) Volpi , Dustin (Karli) Volpi, Christopher (Amber) Volpi , Mitchell (Tiffany) Dekay , Matthew Harford , Brandon Cheney , Brooke Cheney , and Brianna Cheney ; 20 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law: Jamie Trout ; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of caring friends.
