Obituary of Constance Ruth Cruttenden
CONSTANCE "CONNIE" RUTH (ERWAY) CRUTTENDEN age 89 of Horseheads, NY passed away on Sunday April 27, 2025 surrounded by family. She was born June 24, 1935 in Wellsboro, PA the daughter of the late Mason and Laura Losinger Erway. She was also pre-deceased by her sister Molly Erway. Connie met the love of her life, Gary Cruttenden, when she was 10 years old. They shared 80 inseparable years together. They
raised three sons in Horseheads, NY: Michael (Jacqueline), Jeffrey,and Patrick (Joan) Cruttenden. A 1956 graduate of Robert Packer Hospital School of Nursing, Connie worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital for over 30 years. She was an avid traveler,bridge player, and an active member of social groups including Eastern Star and the Red Hat Society. Connie cherished time spent at her Keuka Lake home with lifelong friends, Gary and Lucille Smith, and enjoyed winters in Spring Hill, Florida with her husband. She adored
her seven grandchildren (Kelly Cooper, Jennifer Mansaray, Cortney McBride, Matthew Cruttenden, Marissa Merrill, Steven Cruttenden, and Laura Slone) and was blessed with 10 great-grandchildren. Connie is also survived by her sister-in-law Velma Coolidge and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS on Friday May 2, 2025 from 2:00-4:00pm. Following calling hours at 4 PM the family will conduct a Funeral Service. Those unable to attend the service will be livestreamed at https://evt.live/constance-ruth-cruttenden Afterwards, O.E.S Chapter 423 will conduct a memorial service for their departed sister. Connie will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers those wishing to remember Connie may do so through memorials to St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis , TN 38105.
