John P. Wylie age 84 of Horseheads, NY passed away on Wednesday August 6, 2025. He was born November 20 1940 in Corning , NY the son of the late William David Wylie and Grace Dusenbery Wylie. He was a retired Industrial Arts Teacher in the Elmira City School District. John was always on the go and helping friends . He was a sportsman and loved deer hunting. John was a Member of The Keuka Lake Association and a long-time board member holding several offices. He was a member of The Finger Lakes Live Steam Engine Model Railroad Association. He also enjoyed farming with friends in Pennsylvania. John loved his family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. He is survived by his wife Ellen K. Novak Wylie ; son and daughter-in-law: John J. and Pam Wylie of Bradford, NH ; granddaughters : Wendy, Bethanie , and Kellie ; 7 great grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; brother: William Wylie of California and nephews Timothy Wylie and Michael Wylie ; sister-in-law: Connie A'Brunzo and Kathleen Novak and two nephews Stephen Novak and Phillip Novak ; several nieces and nephews , and cousins including his sister's family the Aikman families. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY on Sunday August 10, 2025 from 4 to 7 PM and Monday August 11. 2025 from 10 AM to 11 AM . John's Funeral Service will be at the conclusion of calling hours at 11 AM. He will be laid to rest in Coopers Plains Cemetery.
