Rhoda Silverstein Kaplan age 95 of Horseheads, NY passed away on Sunday October 12, 2025 at home surrounded by her loving family. Rhoda was born September 22, 1930 in Brooklyn , NY the daughter of the late Sol and Beatrice Pearl Silverstein. Rhoda married her husband, Albert H. Kaplan, on April 16, 1950 and he pre-deceased her on February 3, 2015after nearly 65 years of marriage. Mrs. Kaplan was a Social Worker with the Chemung County Department of Social Services. Rhoda and Albert were especially proud of their six children and having them all attain college degrees and becoming successful in their careers. In addition to her parents and husband , Rhoda was pre-deceased by her sister-in-law Charlotte Kolbrenner . Mrs. Kaplan is survived by her sons and daughters : David and Liz Kaplan of Penfield ,NY Paul and Pam Kaplan of Washington , D.C. , Carol Kaplan Newmark of Airmont , NY , Risa Kaplan Nichols of Horseheads , NY , Deborah and Robert Steere of Penfield , NY , and Beth Kaplan Jones of Potsdam , NY ; sister-in-law: Sarah Seltzer of Long Island, NY ; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews , and a host of caring friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Rhoda's Funeral Services on Tuesday October 14, 2025 at 12:30 PM at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY. Rabbi Tom Samuels will officiate . Mrs. Kaplan will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Albert in The Chester Street Cemetery in Elmira, NY.
