Richard E. Sokolowski age 87 of Horseheads, NY passed away at Robert Packer Hospital on Sunday October 19, 2025. Dick was born September 18,1938 in Scranton, PA the son of the late Adam and Amelia "Millie" Swartz. He was a graduate of Horseheads High School Class of 1956. Dick was a Veteran of The US ARMY serving his country with the Intelligence Corp. in Paris and Germany. He married his wife, Gladys May Bosley on June 15, 1963 and they recently celebrated their 62nd Wedding Anniversary on June 15, 2025. He received his Associates Degree from Corning Community College , his Bachelor's Degree from Elmira College ,and his Master's Degree from Syracuse University. Dick was a Technology Transfer Specialist with Corning Inc. He coached Horseheads Little League and was the Minor League Commissioner . He was a member of Horseheads High School Sports Advisory Committee , a Boy Scout Troop Leader . Dick was involved for 39 years with Horseheads Girls Softball as a coach , board member , and president . He was pre-deceased by his son Michael C. Sokolowski on November 28, 2018. Dick loved his family and friends and treasured the time he spent with them. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife Gladys; his loving daughters: Teresa (Troy) Monks of Horseheads, NY and Julie Sokolowski of Chesapeake, VA; his beloved grandchildren: Matthew Gill of Baltimore, Maryland, Erin Gill of Horseheads, NY, Stefan(Amber) Sokolowski of Tecumseh, OK, and Angelina Sokolowski of Utica , Kentucky; three great grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Marshall and Paula Bosley of Westminster, MD and extended family members. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY on Thursday November 6, 2025 from 4-7 PM. Dick will be laid to rest at the convenience of the family. Those wishing may remember Dick through memorials to The Horseheads Girls Softball League.
