Dwight D. Sands Age 68 of Horseheads, NY passed away on Thursday November 13, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 7, 1957 in Elmira, NY the son of the late James William Sands and Dortha Ohler Sands. Dwight was a franchise owner of the Fed Ex in Horseheads, NY. He enjoyed spending his time golfing and bowling, and loved spending time with his grandchildren who called him Papa. He was also pre-deceased by his brother Gerald Sands. Dwight is survived by his daughters and sons-in-laws: Heather Sands and Steve Ilnicki of Horseheads, NY; Ashlee and Jacob VanCuren of Corning, NY; son and daughter-in-law: Kyle Sands and Melany Nelson of Elmira, NY; daughter and son-in-law: Alissa and Trevor Fusare of Horseheads, NY; grandchildren: Zachary Sands, Annabelle, Ethan, and Olivia VanCurren; Audrianna Sands, Leila Rounds, Rylin Sands, Dominic Sands, Alexandra Fusare, and Tristan Fusare; brother: Jim Sands of Horseheads, NY; longtime companion: Marilyn Patno of Horseheads, NY and her daughter and son-in-law Andrea and Bill Bauman and their children Andrew, Matthew, Ryan, and Brooke Bauman; mother of Dwight's children: Gail Sands of Horseheads, NY ; several extended family members and friends. Dwight's Funeral Services will be held at the convenience of the family. He will be laid to rest in Scotchtown Cemetery in Erin, NY with his parents and brother.
