Gayle Shaw age 93 of Horseheads, NY passed away on Thursday January 1, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 5, 1932 in Mansfield, PA the son of the late Earl W. and Daisy Brace Shaw. Gayle married his wife Barbara J. Horton Shaw on December 26, 1952 and she pre-deceased him on September 23, 2019 after nearly 67 years of marriage. Gayle was also pre-deceased by six brothers Daryl Shaw, Robert Shaw , Richard Shaw , Earl Shaw Jr. Leland Shaw and Byron Shaw and five sisters Phylliss "Laree" Coates , Roberta Vaughn , Alice Scott, Virginia Erway, and Marilyn Lee. He was a member of Oakwood United Methodist Church. He played golf his entire life and was a member of Mark Twain Golf Course and especially enjoyed playing golf with his wife Barbara and numerous friends . Gayle was a Veteran of The Korean War serving his country with The US ARMY. He was a retired Tool & Die Maker having worked at Bennett Tool & Die in Horseheads, NY for 46 years. Gayle loved his family and friends and treasured the time he spent with them. Mr. Shaw is survived by his children and their spouses: Gayle Scott and Shirley Shaw of Horseheads, NY ; Deborah Ann Fisk and John Terry Fisk of Hammondsport, NY ; Gregory Lee and Candace Shaw of Elmira, NY ; Constance Lucille and Kevin Smith of Auburndale, Florida ; Mark Alan and Jaime Shaw of Elmira, NY; grandchildren: Kristi and Paul Mertsock, Scott J. Shaw , Sean and Jessie Fisk , Adam and Mercedes Fisk, Luke Shaw and Soozi Darling, Zane Smith , Zachary and Louisa Gille-Smith , Valerie Shaw , and Jack Shaw ; great grandchildren: Samantha and Dalton Tyler , Joshua, Abigayle, and Fiona ; great great grandchildren: Kamila , Eli, and Braxton; brother: Harold L. Shaw; sister-in-law: Barbara (Mrs. Byron P.) Shaw ; several nieces , nephews , cousins , and a host of caring friends . Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY on Friday January 9, 2026 from 11 AM to 1 PM. Gayle's Funeral Services and Celebration of His Life will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 1 PM . Gayle will be laid to rest with his beloved wife Barbara in Woodlawn National Cemetery in Elmira, NY where Full Military Honors will be accorded Mr. Shaw. The Family will provide their own flowers.
