Jack L. Brooks Obituary

Jack L. Brooks, age 74, passed away on Sunday, May 31, following a brief illness.

Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, June 4, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY 14845. A Pilgrim Ceremony will take place at 7:30 PM. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 5, at 12:00 PM at Lynch Funeral Home.

Jack was born on September 14, 1951, in Elmira, NY, the son of the late Raymond and Beatrice Dibble Brooks.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Bud, Raymond, James, Robert, Thomas, Billy, and Freddie; and his sisters, Beverly, Marsha, Sandra, Sherry, Evelyn, and Bonnie.

Jack is survived by his loving wife, Christine, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage. He is also survived by his children, Tammy Lee and Steve, Tina and Rich Hazen, Kelly and Dan Bell, and Brian and Amanda Brooks; his grandchildren, Taylor, Logan Lee, Alexis, Anna Hazen, Braden, Madison, Colton, Paityn Brooks, Carson, and Jackson Bell; his siblings, Edwin Brooks, Shirley Hewlett, Sissy and Jim Dibble, and Debra and Mark Warner; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends. He is also survived by his special sister-in-law, Karon Davin, with whom he loved sharing long conversations about life, family, and politics.

Jack was employed by Anchor Glass Container Corporation for more than 43 years. Following his retirement, he spent four years working with Moose International, a role he proudly considered his "retirement gig."

Jack dedicated many years of service to the Loyal Order of Moose, an organization he was proud to be part of. He served as Deputy Supreme Governor for New York State and, in 2017, earned the Pilgrim Degree of Merit, the highest degree earned by a male member of the Order. Jack wore his gold coat with great pride.

He also volunteered at American Legion Post 442, where he could often be found bartending, lending a hand, and helping wherever he was needed.

Above all, Jack loved his family. He enjoyed attending his children's and grandchildren's school activities and sporting events throughout the years, always cheering loudly and offering encouragement from the sidelines. He also enjoyed the outdoors, the beach, his pool, and trips to the casino.

Jack was a familiar and friendly face around HHDS, where he could be seen walking daily, rain or shine, often waving to passersby along the way. He will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his years of service, his pride in the organizations he loved, and the lasting impact he made on those around him.
