Helen J. Menechella age 67 of Elmira Heights, NY passed away on Wednesday June 17, 2026 at home surrounded by her loving family. Helen was born March 22, 1959 in Elmira, NY the daughter of the late Arthur and Agnes Canali Paul. She was a graduate of Thomas A. Edison High School Class of 1977 and Corning Community College. Helen married her husband , James R. "Mini" Menechella , on June 5, 1982 and he pre-deceased her on February 15, 2024. She was a Retired Nursing Supervisor at Elcor Nursing Home after many years of dedicated service to the residents and families she served . She loved the times she and Jim spent at Camp Arey on Keuka Lake and their trips to Saratoga Race Track and the many Casinos. Helen enjoyed bowling at Rossi Lanes. She was a communicant of Most Holy Name of Jesus Parish. One of her greatest joys was being "Nonna" to her beloved grandson Jameson. Helen is survived by her sons : James A. Menechella and Brian Menechella both of Elmira, NY; grandson Jameson Menechella ; sister: and Kathryn Paul of Valbonne, France with her children Sebastian (Maeva) and Nicholas ; God Son: Joseph Pryslak ; sister-in-law: Suzanne Downey of Elmira, NY and her children David Weston, Rockelle Evans and Sarah Sperduto ; as well as several great nieces, great nephews , and cousins; ; best friends Toni and Gary Bradley , Steve Snyder, Barb and Michael Baker Chuck and Marlene LeMark , Kip Capozzi , Melissa Ryan , Kori Campbell, Patriece Barnes, Travonne King, Shelly Stacy, Mark and Debbie Shumaker, and of course Bob and Angie Rybak for everything they had done for Helen these past few years, and many many more friends and relatives. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY on Thursday June 25, 2026 from 5 to 7 PM. Helen's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church 224 Franklin Street Elmira, NY on Friday June 26, 2026 at 10 AM. The Rev. Scott M. Kubinski will be the Celebrant of Helen's Funeral Mass.
