Obituary of George C. Bartosch

GEORGE C. BARTOSCH Age 97 of Horseheads , NY passed away on Monday March 26 , 2018 at Elcor Nursing Home . George was born June 29 , 1920 in Syracuse , NY the son of the late George and Mary Grovine Bartosch. He attended Assumption Academy and was taught by The Sisters of St. Francis. George was an avid sportsman and as a youth he played baseball , basketball , tennis , and soccer. He also enjoyed bowling , fishing , hunting , camping , and horseshoes. George served his country during World War II in Europe and the Phillipines with the 67th Signal Battalion for three years and attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. He married his wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Denkenberger Bartosch , and she pre-deceased him on May 26 , 2001 . George was also pre-deceased by his brothers Joseph , Francis , and Leonard Bartosch all of Syracuse , NY . He was a life member of The Horseheads Elks Lodge # 2297 . George retired from Bendix Coporation (Honeywell) as Plant Manager of The Electronics Control Division in Troy , Michigan after 38 years of dedicated service including temporary assignments in San Luis , Mexico , Stuttsgard , Germany , and several Bendix facilities throughout The United States including the Elmira Heights , NY plant. George was a faithful communicant of St. Mary Our Mother Church in Horseheads , NY where he served as an usher for many years . George is survived by his son Michael E. Bartosch of Horseheads , NY ; many nephews and nieces and extended family. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS , NY on Tuesday April 3 , 2018 from 9 AM to 10:30 AM . George's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM following calling hours at St. Mary Our Mother Church 816 West Broad Street Horseheads , NY . George will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Elizabeth in St. Mary Our Mother Cemtery in Horseheads , NY .
