Obituary of Phyllis A. Barrett

PHYLLIS A. HOWE BARRETT Age 85 formerly of Big Flats, NY passed away on Monday December 10, 2018 at Seneca View Nursing Home in Montour Falls , NY. Phyllis was born January 21 , 1933 in Tioga, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late Leon and Fannie Gilbert Howe . She married her husband , Robert Henry Barrett on June 29 , 1950 and he pre-deceased her on March 15 , 1997. Phyllis was also pre-deceased by her daughter Sandra Grover on January 20 , 2016 and by her brothers and sisters Bob Howe, Arnold Howe, Bettie Duvall, Lavera Hoose, and Elaine Morse. Phyllis was a member of The First United Methodist Church of Big Flats and The Big Flats American Legion Auxiliary . Phyllis was a retired employee of Nichols Discount City in Elmira Heights , NY . She enjoyed bowling and loved spending time with her family and friends. Phyllis is survived by her daughter and son-in-law : Barbara J. Barrett-Smith and Ben Smith of Horseheads, NY ; son and daughter-in-law : Michael and Pat Barrett of Lynn Haven , Florida ; son-in-law : Glenn Grover of Horseheads, NY ; grandchildren : Rebecca Barrett Hedden (Jason) and great grandson Cameron of Panama City , Florida ; Chad Accardi and great granddaughter Kylie of Elmira Heights , NY ; Sara Grover Cronin (Robert) and great grandchildren Tryston and Kerensa of Williamsport , Pa ; Christina Accardi Cappelli (Chris) of Dryden , NY ; David Barrett of Birmingham Alabama ; Brad Smith and fiancé Nicole of Rochester , NY and Tyler Smith (Amanda) of Rochester , NY ; beloved brother : Eugene Bergh (JoAnn) of Livermore , CA ; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law : Douglas Barrett , Hazel Barrett Dew , and Patricia Barrett McCreight ; several nieces, nephews , cousins , neighbors and friends . Phyllis' family would like to extend their many thanks to Minier's and their employees in Big Flats for being so kind . Thank You to the caregivers at New Falls Home and Seneca View Nursing Home in Montour Falls for their kind and compassionate care given to Phyllis during her stay. There will be no prior calling hours . Phyllis will be laid to rest with her beloved husband Robert in Rural Home Cemetery in Big Flats , NY at the convenience of the family.
