Obituary of Darrell Thomas Phillips

PHILLIPS Darrell T. CB Handle "Auctioneer" Age 59 of Cayuta , NY formerly of Sullivanville , NY passed away on Monday June 11 , 2012 at The Bath VA Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. Darrell was born July 4 , 1952 in Elmira , NY the son of the late Donald R. and Florence M. Young Phillips. He was also pre-deceased by his brother Doyle Robert Phillips. Darrell was a Vietnam Veteran serving his country with The U.S. Army and a member of Bentley-Trumble American Legion Post # 442 in Horseheads , NY. He was a retired Corrections Officer at Elmira Correctional Facility and formerly was employed at Thatcher Glass and Elcor Nursing Home . Darrell was a Ham Operator and enjoyed talking on his C.B. as "Auctioneer" and taught himself to play the guitar. He loved his family and friends and cherished the time he spent with them especially his granddaughter Sienna. Darrell is survived by his daughter : Katherine Anne Phillips of Horseheads , NY ; granddaughter : Sienna Cherilyn Williams of Horseheads , NY ; brother : Dane Phillips of Endicott , NY ; sister and brother-in-law : Donna and Ronald Moon of Horseheads , NY ; several nieces , nephews , cousins , and a host of caring friends including his caregivers and friends at The Bath VA Medical Center. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS , NY on Monday June 18 , 2012 from 10 AM-12 PM and 1-3 PM. Darrell's Funeral Services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours with the Rev. Mark Erway officiating . Interment in Woodlawn National Cemetery in Elmira , NY at the convenience of the family
