Obituary of Charles Grant Trimm

TRIMM CHARLES GRANT Age 88 of Horseheads, NY passed away on Tuesday March 7, 2017 at Elcor Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. Charlie was born in Elmira, NY on April 7, 1928 the son of the late Charles N. and Esther Spencer Trimm . He enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving his country during World War II from (1946-1949) until he was Honorably Discharged. Charlie served aboard the U.S.S. Forrest Royal. Charlie married his wife Nancy L. (Ockerman) Trimm on August 3, 1947 and they would have celebrated 60th Wedding Anniversary on August 3, 2017. He was retired from Schweizer Aircraft after 33 years of dedicated service. He also worked at Jubilee Grocery Store in Horseheads after his retirement. Mr. Freeman was pre-deceased by his parents Charles N. Trimm and Esther Spencer Porter, and Step-Dad Lloyd Porter; sister Alice (Trimm) Simkin; brother Richard Trimm. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Nancy L. (Ockerman) Trimm ; his son and daughter-in-law: Jeffery and Nora Trimm of Fogelsville, PA; grandson: Noah Trimm of Tucson, AZ; great grandson: Jonathan Trimm; neice: Sharon Reynolds (Trimm); nephews: Lauren Simkin, Chuck, Ken, and Dick Trimm; sister-in-law: Rosella Trimm. He spent many years at his cottage on Seneca Lake where he enjoyed fishing, boating, and campfires with friends. He enjoyed model ship building and model airplanes. A special thank you to Dr. Mauri and Kayakar Reddy for their excellent care of Charlie. Also to the Staff at Elcor's Maple Creek Meadow, Margaret, Nicole and CNA's. It was his request that there be no calling hours or Funeral Services. Friends and family are invited to a Graveside Service at Woodlawn National Cemetery on Tuesday April 11, 2017 at 1PM where Full Military Honors will be accorded Mr. Trimm. Taps will be played by Max Wallace. Arrangements are entrusted to the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to a charity of one's choice or to the Arctic League P.O. Box 113 Elmira, NY 14902.
