Obituary of Stanley C. Stefanski

STEFANSKI Stanley C. Age 89 of Horseheads, NY passed away on Friday March 2 , 2012 in the comfort of his loving home with his family by his side. Stanley was born February 19 , 1923 in St. Clair , PA the son of Steve and Pauline Worek Stefanski. Stanley married his wife , Margaret M. Rusatsky Stefanski , on December 1 , 1945 in Sacred Heart Church in New Philadephia , PA and she pre-deceased him on December 20 , 1992 . Mr. Stefanski was also pre-deceased by his son, Michael V. Stefanski on February 2, 2006 and by his sisters Mary and Janet; brothers John, Joseph and Adam. Mr. Stefanski is survived by his loving and devoted children : Carol Stefanski-Quinn and William Quinn of Horseheads , NY , Stanley S. Stefanski of Horseheads , NY , Margaret L. Stefanski of St. Augustine,FL, Pauline Stefanski of Millport , NY , and Michelle Stefanski-Seymour and Douglas P. Seymour of Cortland , NY ; grandchildren : Sean C. Quinn of Chicago, IL and Todd C. Quinn of Landing, NJ, Jennifer (Tracy) M. Oleshak , Jessica (Anthony) M. Oleshak, Maxwell Seymour and Margaret Hope Stefanski; great grandkids : Brittney N. Quinn and Ryan Quinn and newest great-grand daughter Jadelise. Stanley is also survived by brother Steven of St. Clair, PA and his sister Ann (Sam) Reynolds of Taylor, SC. His loving and compassionate companion, Josephine Witzel has been his rock for 14 years. Stanley was a U.S. Navy pilot in WWII and received the Victory Medal. He concentrated on his college education at Seton Hall University graduating with honors in math and science. Still attending college, he started working at Westinghouse in Bloomfield, NJ. In 1952 he started setting up the Westinghouse plant in Horseheads. During his 51 year tenure he achieved top management and traveled worldwide with his financial and business acumen. He was a devout Catholic at St. Mary Our Mother. He enjoyed his many friends and daily mass followed by breakfast at Gerould's. In his lifetime, Stan was a member of Elmira Country Club, Soaring Eagles Golf Club, Holy Name Society, Toastmasters, Rotarians, and the Chlorine Institute. Besides love of work, Stanley's passion for golf and gin rummy filled his retirement. He enjoyed wintering in Port St. Lucie, FL, with his family and beloved circle of friends. Many thanks to the medical personnel of Arnot Ogden, Elcor, "Liz" from VA, Megan from Family Services and Mary from Hospice. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY on Monday March 5 , 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Prayer Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday March 6 , 2012 at 9 AM followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Mary Our Mother Church in Horseheads , NY. Stanley will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Margaret and his son Michael in St. Mary Our Mother Cemetery where Full Military Honors will be accorded Mr. Stefanski. In Lieu of flowers, donations should be made to St. Mary Our Mother School 811 Westlake Street Horseheads, NY 14845.
