Obituary of Francis J. Kubiak

KUBIAK , FRANCIS J. Age 88 of Wilton , NY formerly of Horseheads , NY passed away on Wednesday February 11 , 2015 after a valiant battle with cancer since 2010. Frank was born March 22 , 1926 in Olean , NY the son of the late Frank and Constance Glowka Kubiak. He was Veteran of WW II serving his country with The U.S. Navy. Frank married his wife Ellen Hurley Kubiak on August 30 , 1947 and she pre-deceased him on February 19 , 2011 after nearly 64 years of marriage. He was also pre-deceased by his son Richard A. Kubiak U.S. Army Lt. Colonel Retired on July 18 , 2004 and by his brother John H. Kubiak and his sister and brother-in-law Theresa and Richard Wojtanik , his brother-in-law Victor Barone and sister-in-law Marian Bristow. Mr. Kubiak was a devout Catholic and communicant of St. Clement's Church in Saratoga Springs , NY and had been a communicant of St. Mary Our Mother Church in Horseheads , NY. He was a Past Grand Knight of The Knights of Columbus Council #229 of Elmira , NY and a member of Horseheads Council # 6158. He was Sales Manager for Westinghouse Corporation in Horseheads , NY at the time of his retirement. He was an avid golfer and a member of The McGregor Country Club. Frank loved his family and friends and treasured the time he spent with them. Frank is survived by his daughter and son-in-law : Diane & Robert Ludwig of Wilton , NY ; son and daughter-in-law : John & Judi Kubiak of Raleigh , NC ; grandchildren : Julie Ludwig Adams and Robert Adams and Julie's sons Owen and Luke Mullen and Robert's son Cameron Adams of Wilton , NY , Jason & Stacy Ludwig of Tampa , Florida , Shannon Kubiak Vinson & Barry Vinson and their daughter Grace of Raleigh , NC , Jay & Catherine Kubiak and their son Jameson of St. Petersburg , FL, and Brooke Kubiak Clinton & Daniel Clinton and their daughters Shelby and Lexi of Raleigh , NC ; sister-in-law : Ann (Mrs. Victor) Barone of Elmira , NY and brother-in-law : Charles Bristow of Land O'Lakes , Florida ; extended family members ; several nieces and nephews , cousins , and a host of caring friends especially the "6:45 er" friends of St. Mary Our Mother Church and his golf buddies . Our family sincerely thanks the staff at The Home of The Good Shepherd Assisted Living in Wilton , NY for their dedicated support and care of Frank for the last 17 months. He was surrounded by a loving second family at The Shepherd and we are forever grateful .Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS , NY on Monday February 16 , 2015 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM . Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday February 17 , 2015 at 10 AM at St. Mary Our Mother Church 816 West Broad Street and Westinghouse Road Horseheads , NY . Frank will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Ellen and his son Richard in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery in Elmira , NY where Full Military Honors will be accorded Mr. Kubiak .
