Obituary of Annabel L. Cohen

COHEN Annabel L. of Elmira , NY formerly of Horseheads , NY passed away on Friday Febraury 15 , 2013 after a brief illness. Annabel was born September 11 , 1916 in Bronx , NY the daughter of the late Herman and Minerva Adelson Laskow . She married her husband , Jacque H. Cohen , on August 6 , 1939 in Syracuse , NY . Annabel and her husband Jacque owned and operated J.H. Cohen's Ladies' and Children's Apparel Store in Hanover Square since 1938 until their retirement. Annabel and Jacque were long-time members of Temple B'Nai Israel in Elmira , NY and Annabel was presently a member of Temple Kol Ami . Annabel was a member of The Horseheads Woman's Club and served with her husband on various community and civic organizations including The Horseheads Free Library . Mrs. Cohen was pre-deceased by her husband Jacque on April 3 , 2001 as well as by her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Frances and Bernard Kahn. Annabel and Jacque were always so outgoing and will be remembered fondly by all who knew them . Annabel is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Rhonda & Earl Gurell of Pittsford , NY ; sons : Richard Cohen of Elmira , NY and David Cohen of Chula Vista , CA ; grandchildren : Daniel & Monica Gurell , Michael Gurell , Deborah Gurell Baldwin & Kevin Baldwin , and Catherine Cohen Godinez & Luis Godinez ; great grandchildren : Jackson and Jordan Baldwin and Aaron and Kyla Gurell ; nephews : Charles Kahn and Robert Kahn ; several grand nieces and grand nephews and a host of caring friends . Mrs. Cohen's Funeral Services will be held on Monday February 18 , 2013 at 11 AM at Temple Kol Ami 1008 West Water Street Elmira , NY . Rabbi Mimi Biatch will officiate and she will be assisted by Abraham Golos . Interment in Temple B'Nai Israel Cemetery in Elmira , NY .
