Obituary of Richard J. Hetrick
HETRICK , RICHARD J. SR. Age 87 of Elmira Heights , NY passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday June 16 , 2015 . Richard was born Sepember 23 , 1927 in Hastings , PA the son of the late William and Mabel Graffius Hetrick. He was a Veteran of World War II serving his country with The U.S. Navy stationed in The Phillipines . Richard married his wife , Mary Theresa Ottaviano Hetrick , on January 15 , 1949 and she pre-deceased him on May 31 , 2001 . Mr. Hetrick was also pre-deceased by his daughter Carolyn Bonnie Hetrick on July 31 , 2010 and by his brothers and sisters Beatrice M. Thomas , Charles "Bob" Hetrick , William Hetrick , Mary "Lil" Lockard , Paul Hetrick , Ida Mae Burnham Samantha "Ann" Hetrick , Joseph Hetrick , Harry Hetrick , Thomas Hetrick , and Juniata "June" Hetrick . Dick had worked at The Elmira Silk Mills , Remington Rand , and Hires Turner Glass prior to opening his own business Hetrick Glass Shop in Elmira Heights , NY . He and his wife Mary Theresa owned and operated the business which is now run by his sons Richard "Rick" and Scott Hetrick. Dick was member of The Elmira Heights Legion and The Painter's and Allied Workers Union. Mr. Hetrick loved his family and friends and treasured the time he spent with them . Dick is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law : Richard J. & Sheila Hetrick Jr. of Erin , NY and Scott & Colleen Hetrick of Elmira Heights , NY ; grandchildren : J & Krista Steinhauer of Elmira Heights , NY , Michelle & Tony Knopp of Charleston , SC , Jessica Hetrick of Elmira Heights , NY , Bridgette Hetrick and Brady Griffin of Elmira Heights , NY ; great grandsons : J Steinhauer-Leonard , Antonio Steinhauer , and Angelo Steinhauer all of Elmira Heights , NY ; great granddaughter : Fiona Rose Knopp of Charleston , SC ; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law : Madeline "Tiny" (Mrs. Harry) Hetrick , Paula (Mrs. Thomas) Hetrick , and William Taylor all of Elmira Heights , NY ; several nieces , nephews , cousins , and a host of caring friends . The family would like to extend a special thank Richard's caregivers Dolly Faith Bowers , Mable & Collin Campbell , and Cheryl Rinwalske . Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS , NY on Sunday June 21 , 2015 from 1-3 and 6-8 PM . Mr. Hetrick's Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday June 22 , 2015 at 11 AM. Richard will be laid to rest in St. Mary Our Mother Cemetery in Horseheads , NY next to his beloved wife Mary Theresa and his daughter and "Daddy's Girl " Carolyn Bonnie Hetrick . Full Military Honors will be accorded Mr. Hetrick by The Chemung County Honor Guard and Firing Squad and The U.S. Navy.
