Obituary of Bonnie J. Austin

AUSTIN , BONNIE J. Age 69 of Horseheads, NY passed away on Friday July 24 , 2015 at Rochester General Hospital in Rochester , NY due to complication of recent surgery. Bonnie was born February 18 , 1946 in Elmira , NY the daughter of James and Delores Louise Johnson Ordway. She was pre-deceased by her father , James F . Ordway , in December 1945 prior to her birth. Bonnie married her husband , Albert N. Austin , on November 17 , 1962 and they would have celebrated their 53rd Wedding Anniversary this year . Bonnie was also pre-deceased by her step-father Francis D. Palmer on November 20 , 1999 and by her brother Joseph Palmer in 2014. Bonnie loved her family and friends and especially her grandchildren. She loved sewing , knitting , and crafts and she knitted several hundred pairs of mittens and donated them and clothing to the homeless and those in need in Chemung County. Bonnie was a member of The Old Timer's Association of Chemung County. Bonnie is survived by her loving and devoted husband Albert N. Austin ; her children : Rose & Shawn Boyer of Beaver Dams , NY , Albert N. & Carol Austin Jr. of Beaver Dams , NY , Art & Lisa Austin of Alpine , NY , and Tina & Rick Carney of Horseheads , NY ; several grandchildren and great grandchildren ; her mother : Delores Louise Johnson Ordway Palmer of Horseheads , NY ; her sisters and brothers : Delores "Dolly" & John LaVigne of Pine City , NY , Raymond "Butch & Jackie Palmer of Horseheads , NY , Diana & Lacey Little of Horseheads , NY . Sheila & James Comfort of Horseheads , NY Gary Palmer of Pine Valley , NY , and Cindy & Tom Ruggiero of Wheatfield , NY ; several nieces , nephews , aunts , uncles , cousins , and a host of caring friends . It was Bonnie's wishes that there be no prior calling hours . A Celebration of Her Life will be held at the convenience of the family. Those wishing may remember Bonnie through an act of kindness to anyone who needs a helping hand or words of encouragement .
