Obituary of Mary A. Vavrasek

VAVRASEK , MARY A. Age 93 of Horseheads , NY passed away peacefully into The Arms of Her Lord on Tuesday December 8 , 2015. Mary was born at home in the Town of Catlin on October 11 , 1922 the daughter of the late James and Maria Malacek Benesh. She was a life-long resident of Catlin having lived in the home she born in and later raised her family in. Mary worked at Eclipse in Elmira Heights , NY during World War II to support our country and the war effort.; She married her husband , Joseph F. Vavrasek , on October 22 , 1946 and he pre-deceased her after 50 years of marriage on December 29 , 1996. She was also pre-deceased by her brothers Antone , Frank ,and Joseph Benesh and by her sister Rosie Boor. Mary was proud of her Czechoslovakian Heritage and was a member of The Czechoslavak Society of America Lodge Empire State # 448 and a member of Premyl Otakar. She was a life-time member of The Catlin United Methodist Church . Mary loved cooking , baking , psinting , puzzle books and talking on the phone with her friends . She loved her family and friends and treasured the time she spent with them and was especially proud of her grandchildren and their many accomplishments. Mrs. Vavrasek is survived by her loving and devoted children Lee & Kathy Vavrasek , Paul Vavrasek , and Dean Vavrasek all of Horseheads , NY ; her grandchildren: David & Gabriella Vavrasek , Diane Vavrasek , Jessica Vavrasek , Natalie Vavrasek , and Eric Vavrasek ; several nieces , nephews , cousins , and a host of caring friends. Mrs. Vavrasek's family would like to thank the staff of Bethany Manor Unit 2 for their loving and compassionate care given to their mother and grandmother. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS , NY on Saturday December 12 , 2015 from 2-4 PM. Mrs. Vavrasek's Funeral and Committal Services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 4 PM with Rev. Rhonda Kouterick officiating. Mary will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Joseph in Maple Grove Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
