Obituary of Kathryn D. Monte

MONTE , KATHRYN D. "KATIE" Age 94 of Elmira , NY went to Heaven on Sunday January 10 , 2016. Kathryn was born January 26 , 1921 in Wilkes Barre , PA the daughter of the late Nicholas and Gaitana Villano Monte. Kathryn was a devout Catholic and was a graduate of Nazareth College in Rochester , NY . Upon her graduation from Nazareth she entered The Order of The Sisters of St. Joseph at Nazareth Convent and took the name (former) Sister Mary Emmanuella. In addition to her parents she was pre-deceased by her siblings Antoinette "Toni" Monte , Lucy Niedszwski , Manuella Muccigrosso , Carmella "Millie"Colton , Leiber John Monte , and Joseph G. Monte. Kathryn was a communicant of St. Mary's Southside Church in Elmira , NY for many years. Katie is survived by her beloved sister Paula "Polly" Monte Chapman of Elmira , NY ; nephews and nieces : Melvin & Kristina Chapman of Tennessee , Roxann & Richard Margeson of Horseheads , NY , Mac & Nancy Colton , Jimmy & Brenda Colton , Danny & Debbie Colton , Anna Marie & Tony Rydzewski Jr. , and John & Ann Marie Neidszwski ; several grand nieces and grandnephews ; god children : Gaitana Colton Martin and Kingson Mc Kenzie . Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS , NY on Wednesday January 13 , 2 016 from 4-6 PM . Recitation of The Rosary will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 6 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary's Southside Church on Thursday January 14 , 2016 at 10 AM . Kathryn will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery in Wilkes Barre , PA . The Pallbearers will be Kathryn's beloved nephews: Melvin Chapman, Lance Margeson, Thomas Margeson, Jimmy Colton, Mark Colton, David Colton and Antonio Villegas.
