Obituary of Helen L. Covey

COVEY HELEN L. Age 98 of Horseheads , NY passed away on Friday March 8 , 2013 at The Arnot Ogden Medical Center . Helen was born May 26 , 1914 in Jersey City , New Jersey the daughter of the late Gregory and Tekla Dmytriw Lewish . She married her husband Wilson "Bill" Covey and he pre-deceased her in 1982 . She was also pre-deceased by her brothers Michael , Peter , Andrew , and Paul Lewish and by her sisters Mary Sullivan and Anastasia Lewish. Helen was retired from The New York State Department of Labor as a Claims Examiner in Elmira . She was an active member and Past President of The Elmira Business and Professional Woman's Club and was named Woman of The Year in 1994. Helen was a devoted communicant and member of The Altar and Rosary Society of St. Charles Borromeo Church in Elmira Heights , NY. She was also a member of The Ladies of Charity , The Travel Club of which she served as a Past President , and a member of The Elmira Garden Club. Helen also volunteered countless hours at St. Joseph's Hospital . She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Helen is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law : Daniel & Marjorie Lewish of Horseheads and William & Diane Lewish of Wilmington , DE ; sisters and brothers-in-law : Catherine & Harry Sharak of Syracuse and Ann & Jacque Cassidy of Elmira ; several nieces , nephews , and a host of caring friends . Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS , NY on Tuesday March 12 , 2013 from 9-11 AM. Helen's Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home following calling hours at 11 AM. The Rev. Scott M. Kubinski will officiate. Helen will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Bill in Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads , NY
