Obituary of Andrew John Dozack

DOZACK, ANDREW JOHN JR. age 88, the son of the late Andrew John and Alice Kaminski Dozack passed away on Sunday October 30, 2016 with his loving family at his side. Andrew was born June 6, 1928 in Throop, PA and graduated from Throop High School in 1946. During this time, he discovered a passion for jewelry making. He attended Wharton School of Business which culminated in becoming a professional goldsmith and owner of three Dozack Jewelry stores in Elmira, Elmira Heights, and Corning. Andrew was an expert hand engraver and artist. He was known for his design of the original gold castings that were used to create pendants of Elmira's famous Mark Twain Study and the Harris Hill glider plane that people of the community treasured. His career as a goldsmith spanned for over 70 years. Andrew served various positions in the community as past President of the Rotary Club and he also sponsored many youth sports organizations. He was a Veteran of World War II serving his country with the U.S. NAVY and stationed on Johnston Island. He was a long standing member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Post #39. Mr. Dozack's hobbies included racing Margay Enduro go karts, snowmobiling and fishing. Andrew is survived by his wife of 12 years Bonnie L. Kingsley Dozack of Elmira Heights, NY ; his children: Dr. David Dozack (Toni) of Horseheads, NY, Diane Dozack (Michael) Hales of Laguna Hills, CA, Daniel Dozack (Brenda) of Port St. Lucie, FL, Donna Dozack (Daniel) Camarda of Laguna Hills, CA, Andrew J. Dozack III of Palm Bay, FL, Angela Dozack (Shane) Bittaker of Clearwater, FL; grandchildren: Nicholas Camarda, Michael Camarda, Caitlin Dozack, Zackery Dozack, Matthew Hales, Christopher Hales, Brenton Burrell, and Nicholas Meyer ; siblings: Eleanore Skizim and Alice Graham; stepsons: Daniel White of Atlanta, Georgia, and David White of Bernhard's Bay, NY. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mr. Dozack's gravesite services on Saturday November 5, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Millport Cemetery Cemetery Road Millport , NY where Full Military Honors will be accorded for Mr. Dozack.
