Obituary of Marshall O. Tompkins

Tompkins , Marshall O. Age 97 of Horseheads , NY passed away on Saturday November 12 , 2016. Marshall was born May 15 , 1919 in Newfield , NY the son of the late Olin and Grace Patterson Tompkins . He married his wife , Pauline Riesbeck Tompkins , on October 20 , 1943 and she pre-deceased him on March 1 , 2002 . Marshall was also pre-deceased by his son Gerald E. "Jerry" Tompkins on November 15 , 2015 . He was also pre-deceased by his brothers and sisters James , Howard , Olin Jr. , Lawrence , William , Mary Rumsey , Bertha Coombs , Virginia Allen, and Nellie`1 Taber . Marshall was a retired employee of Powers Manufacturing in Elmira. He loved his family and friends and treasured the time he spent with them. Marshall is survived by his son and daughter-in-law : Roger & Colleen Tompkins of Fort Myers , Florida ; former daughter-in-law : Sharon Woughter Tompkins of Elmira , NY ; grandchildren : Julie Tompkins of Elmira , NY and Kevin Tompkins of Horseheads , NY , Amy & Mark Blakeman of Syracuse , NY , and Joy & Robert Hirsch of Charlotte , NC ; great grandchildren : Logan Hirsch , Jenna Hirsch , Emily Blakeman , and Carter Blakeman ; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law : Janice & Don Temple of Horseheads , NY and Beulah (Mrs. William) Tompkins of Seneca Falls , NY ; several nieces , nephews , cousins and a host of caring friends especially "Marshall's Girls" who were his caregivers . Private Funeral Services will be held at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET Horseheads , NY . Chaplain Meredith Tifft will officiate . Marshall will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Pauline in Maple Grove Cemetery .
