Obituary of Gerald Lee Ackler

ACKLER Gerald Lee Age 73 of Alpine, NY passed away on Sunday March 31, 2013. He was born on December 28, 1939 in Watkins Glen, NY the son of the late Norma VanAmburg Kurcoba and step-father Julius Kurcoba. Mr. Ackler was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving from January 1959- January 1962. He married his wife Carolyn A. Gage on September 19, 1975. Gerald worked Purolator Products with 37 years of service (what seemed like 100 to him). He was a member of the American Legion in Newfield and recently transferred to the Horseheads facility; member of the NRA and NYS Big Buck Club. He loved to hunt and fish, especially hunting and loved that his boys did it with him. He will be greatly missed. Mr. Ackler is survived by his loving wife Carolyn Gage Ackler; sons and daughter-in-law: Jeffrey Ackler of Orlando, FL; Daniel and Colleen Ackler of Cortland, NY; daugther: Krista Ackler of FL; grandchildren: Joshua, Brittney of OH; Alexia of TX; Casey of England and newest additon Amelie of Cortland; brothers and sisters-in-law; Robert and Karin Kurcoba of Elmira, NY; Richard and Barbara Kurcoba of Elmira Heights, NY; Stephen and Patricia Kurcoba of Elmira, NY; sister and brother-in-law: Margaret (Jean) and Chuck Rockwell of Elmira, NY; mother-in-law and father-in-law: David and Margaret Davie of Erin, NY;sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Linda and David Durfee of Elmira, NY; Steven and Judy Gage of Pine City, NY; Jan and Pamela Keller of Erin, NY; Yusef and Kimberly Al-Mkhaizeem of Kuwait; Brian and Rebel Watts of Erin, NY; David and Karen Davie of Erin, NY; Aunt Gloria of CA; several nieces, nephews, cousins and Best Friends Bob, Harvey, and Joe. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY on Thursday April 4, 2013 from 1-3 and 6-8 PM. Mr. Ackler's Funeral Services will be held on Friday April 5, 2013 at 11 AM at the Funeral Home with the Rev. Phil Jordan Officiating. Interment in Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads, NY.
