Obituary of Ruth I. Hollenbeck

HOLLENBECK RUTH I. (Mc Lean) Age 87 of Erin, NY passed away on Sunday March 12, 2017 after fighting the good fight of faith in a courageous battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis at home with her loving family around her and began eternity with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Ruth was born December 12 , 1929 in Warsaw , NY the daughter of the late William and Irma Elizabeth Barnhardt McLean. She married her husband , Richard C. Hollenbeck on January 14 , 1967 and they recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary . Ruth loved people and with that love of people she worked at Gerow's Dairy for over 30 years . Her smile and joy endeared her to the customers and workers alike as she expressed herself as a servant of the Lord in all she did . Ruth generously served in local churches throught the years. Everyone who spent time with Ruth was touched by her special loving charm . Her life was her family and her work . Ruth was pre-deceased by her sister Anna Gray (Chester) and her brothers Irving McLean ( Elaine) , William McLean (Dona) , Ira McLean (Betty) , and Ray McLean (Rosalie) . She is also pre-deceased by Richard's brothers and sisters and their spouses . Ruth is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 50 years Richard C. Hollenbeck Sr. ; her children : Richard C. Hollenbeck Jr. (Shelley) , Bryon Hollenbeck (Karen) , Linda Levey Pierce (William) , Sylvia Levey Stansfield (Charles) , Bruce Levey (Dale) , Vinceen Levey Biddle (Thomas) , Rodney Levey (Wendy) and step-daughter Linda Hollenbeck Cross (Todd) . She is also survived by 19 grandchildren , 30 great grandchildren , and 6 great-great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews , affectionately known as "Grammy Dodo" . A special thank you to Kim and Ruth with The Chemung County Health Department and Iva along with the other Nurses with Care First. Ruth felt so blessed by the care you gave her. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY on Thursday March 16 , 2017 from 2 – 4 PM . Ruth's Funeral services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 4 PM with Pastor Dave Cosgrove officiating . Ruth will be laid to rest in Scotchtown Cemetery in Erin , NY at the convenience of the family.
