Obituary of Philip G. Liberatore
Philip G. Liberatore of Pine Valley, NY passed away on Thursday March 1, 2018. He was born in Elmira, NY the son of the late Philip J. and Beatrice Liberatore on June 5, 1928. He was predeceased by his wife, Marilyn Blauvelt Liberatore, in 1994. His surviving family include sons, Jim (Debbie) Liberatore of Pine Valley, NY; Jan "J.K." Liberatore of Horseheads, NY; Scott (Cassie) Liberatore of Pine Valley, NY; and daughter, Susan (John) Slovak of Pine Valley, NY; grandchildren Krysti, Eric, Kym, Allyson, Jeremy, Justin, Samantha, and Kara; several great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; sister-in-law Doris (Charles) Kline; sister-in-law Betty Lindsay. He is also survived by his companion of over 20 years, Lury Wallenbeck and her family; also his extended family members Kyle Kohberger and Kyle Amberg. Phil was a tireless worker whose family and community were everything to him. He was employed by New York Telephone Co. (Verizon); a Veteran of the Korean War serving his country with the U.S. Army; a former Supervisor and Councilman of the Town of Veteran; former Scoutmaster of BSA Troop 41 at Ridge Road School; a Director on the board of the Telco Federal Credit Union; life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America; member of Montour Falls Moose Club and the Pen-NY Mixers Chapter of the Family Motor Coach Association. He enjoyed his time spent on the family farm in Pine Valley since 1937 and also on Seneca Lake at the family cottage since 1948. He was an outdoorsman, a builder, a farmer, and all around jack–of-all-trades. He built the family home in Pine Valley and started the Liberatore/Slovak Christmas Tree Farm in the 1950's. He was always working on a project and had one in the wings. He leaves behind a legacy of wisdom and practicality that he shared with his family who will carry on his projects. He will be greatly missed by all. It was Phil's request that private services be held at the convenience of the family.
