Obituary of Marie Wolf
Marie "Oma" Wolf
(February 6, 1929 ? April 15, 2018)
Marie T. Wolf of Elmira Heights, NY passed away peacefully Sunday, April 15, 2018 surrounded by family. Marie, known lovingly to many as Oma, was a wonderful and spirited wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She cared deeply for her family and made sure they all knew she "loved them more." Marie's huge heart extended to her love of animals and there wasn't a time in her life when she didn't have at least one dog sitting on her lap. Marie was quick witted and the life of every party. Hers was a house where neighborhood children were always welcome and she thrived on the chaos of a big family. She had a strong belief in the Golden Rule, which was a principle that guided her throughout her life and one that she worked hard at passing on to her children. She loved driving down the beach in a convertible at sunset, floating in her pool during the summer, having a rum and coke on her front porch, and catching up with friends at "The Club." To stay connected to her family Oma became an accomplished iPhone user - learning to send photos and texts and share animal videos on Facebook. She never let a birthday, an occasion, or a kind deed go by unacknowledged. Oma was truly the foundation of her family. She lived a full life and was as independent (aka, stubborn) as she was loyal up until the day she passed. Marie is predeceased by her husband Siegfried of 46 years, her beloved son Steve, and her son-in-law Carl Keegan. Marie will be lovingly remembered by her children Mike, John (Isabel), Gary (Cathy), Pati (Roger), Kim, and Joe (Sandy); her eleven grandchildren; her nine great grandchildren; her dear friend Carole Holecek, favorite sister-in-law Trudy Barnard, and loyal protector Chance. Marie will also be forever remembered by her extended family and dear friends. A celebration of Marie's life is set for Saturday, April 21 from 2-5pm at her son's home, 624 Murphy Hill Road, Horseheads, New York. In remembrance of Marie, those who wish may make contributions to the Chemung County Humane Society & SPCA, 2435 NY-352, Elmira, NY 14903. Arrangements entrusted to the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY. Words of condolence and memories may be shared at www.lynchsfuneralhome.com
