Obituary of Paul William Norris

Paul W. Norris Age 83 of Horseheads, NY passed away on Wednesday July 4, 2018. Paul was born November 22, 1934 in Syracuse, NY the son of the late Cornelius and Margaret Mahar Norris. He graduated from Niagara University Summa Cum Lauda with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business. He married his wife Virginia "Ginny" A. Kianka Norris on September 1, 1956 and they would have celebrated their 62nd Wedding Anniversary this year. Paul was a Veteran serving his country with the U.S. Army attaining the rank of Second Lieutenant. He worked for Allied Chemical in Syracuse, NY as an Accountant. Paul then worked for Corning Inc. in Corning, NY as a Systems Analyst for 27 years retiring in 1994. After his retirement, he worked at Corning as a contractor, and then many years for Simmons-Rockwell as a courtesy driver enjoying his time with the staff and customers. He was a giving and loving soul being a blood donor all of his adult life donating almost 11 gallons of blood, and was a member of the Lifesaver program. Mr. Norris was an active communicant of St. Mary Our Mother Church in Horseheads serving as a Eucharistic Minister and dedicated Bingo worker. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, then Counsel #6158. Paul also volunteered for Meals on Wheels with his dearest friend Dennis Grauman, and was a volunteer for the LPGA in Corning, NY for 24 years being the #1 hole Captain for many years. Paul enjoyed his family, most of all joking and laughing with the little ones. He loved his years camping and playing guitar by the campfire. He also loved being "THE CAPTAIN" of his pontoon boat on Keuka Lake as well as watching gliders take off from Harris Hill and even getting the thrill of going up in a glider several years ago. Whenever the kids asked him what time it was he always replied "Lake Time!" In addition to his parents he was also pre-deceased by his sister Mary Kniery. Paul is survived by his loving and devoted wife Virginia A. "Ginny" Kianka Norris; children: Nancy (Daniel) Liebner of Corning, NY; Cynthia (Daniel) McHugh of Wilmington, DE; Paul (Donna) Norris of Kokomo, IN; Patricia (Michael) Joseph of Buffalo, NY; Kathleen (Kevin) Brautigan of Sinking Spring, PA, and Tammy (Brent) Patterson of Elkton, MD; 12 grandchildren; 5 and soon to be 6 great-grandchildren; brother and sisters: Cornelius (Pat) Norris; Jane Hilferding, and Joanne (Jack) Gifford; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a multitude of friends. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY on Friday July 13, 2018 from 4-6 PM. Paul's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday July 14, 2018 at St. Mary Our Mother Church in Horseheads, NY at 10 AM. Paul will be laid to rest in St. Mary Our Mother Cemetery. The family will provide their own flowers.
