Obituary of Ray Palmer
RAY F. "BUTCH" PALMER Age 70 of Horseheads , NY passed away on Sunday September 2 , 2018 . Ray was born November 16 , 1947 in Elmira,NY the son of the late Francis D. "Bud" Palmer and Delores Louise Johnson Palmer . Butch was also pre-deceased by his sister Bonnie Austin , his brother Joseph Palmer, brothers-in-law John LaVigne and Lacy Little , and nephew Scott Palmer Sr. . He was a graduate of Horseheads High School Class of 1966 . Butch was a retired independent over the road truck driver and had worked at Seneca Beverage and Kaplan Trucking of Ohio. He had run a Texaco gas station next to Artistic Card in Elmira , NY. Butch is survived by his devoted companion Jacqueline "Jackie" Hall Mattison ; children : Christopher Palmer of Florida , Tammy & Tim Schram of Scio, NY , Corey VonNeida of Elmira , NY , Tammy & Jeff Wood of Erin, NY ; several grandchildren and great grandchildren ; sisters and brothers-in-law : Delores "Dolly" (Mrs. John) LaVigne of Elmira , NY , Diana (Mrs. Lacy) Little of Horseheads , NY , Sheila & James Comfort of Horseheads , NY , Gary & Darla Palmer of Horseheads , NY , Cindy & Tom Ruggiero of Wheatfield , NY, Albert Austin of Horseheads , NY ; sister-in-law : Diana Grinolds of SC ; uncles and aunts: Roger & Karon Johnson of Horseheads, and Barbara Mower ( Mrs. Frank) Johnson of Millport , NY ; several nieces , nephews , grand nieces , grand nephews , cousins , extended family and a host of caring friends including best friends Loren "Smitty" Smith and Gordy Fitzmaurice. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS , NY on Thursday September 6, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM . Ray's Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday September 7, 2018 at 11 AM with Pastor Bill Wells and Butch's uncle Roger Johnson officiating. Ray will be laid to rest next to his parents in Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads, NY. It was Ray's wish that in lieu of flowers he be remembered through memorials to The Arctic League 249 West Clinton Street Elmira , NY 14901.
