Obituary of Richard J. McLaughlin

RICHARD J. McLAUGHLIN Age 73 of Breesport , NY passed away on Thursday October 18 , 2018. Dick was born February 1. 1945 in Corning , NY the son of the late Donald H. and Mary Nitsche McLaughlin . He was a graduate of Corning West High School Class of 1965. Richard worked as a mason and later became a business agent for The International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craft Workers BAC Local # 12 in Corning , NY. Dick also held office positions for the union with New York State. He enjoyed hunting , fishing , watching college football , listening to Merle Haggard , and time spent on Seneca Lake, but most of all he enjoyed time spent with family and friends. In addition to his parents , Dick was pre-deceased by his brother Thomas McLaughlin , his father-in-law and mothers-in-law Warren and Nora Roe and Jane Roe . Dick is survived by his loving wife of 34 years Catherine Roe McLaughlin ; children : Devin McLaughlin , Amy & Christopher Allen , and David Wennberg & Kimberly Szlucha Wennberg and granddaughter Magdalena Wennberg ; sister and brother-in-law : Joan & Steve Meyers and their children Aaron Caryl and Matthew Caryl and Sarah Robbiano ; brother-in-law and sister-in-law : Stephen & Andrea Roe and their children Todd Roe , Stephanie Roe , and Rebecca and Peter Olson Roe and grand nephews Victor and Nico ; sister-in-law : Thelma Janet McLaughlin and her children Jenny & Carl Skiles and Crystal McLaughlin ; several cousins and a host of caring friends . The family would like to extend a Special Thank You to Kerri Swan and Stephanie Carrier from Guthrie Home Care and all the Staff from Robert Packer Hospital 5th Floor. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS , NY on Thursday October 25 , 2018 from 11 AM to 1 PM . Dick's Funeral Services will be held at the conclusion of calling hours with Rev. Lew Brown officiating . Dick will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery in Corning , NY.
