Obituary of Theodore A. Chapman
THEODORE A. "TED" CHAPMAN Age 85 of Horseheads,NY passed away on Thursday January 17 , 2019. Ted was born January 21 , 1933 in Elmira , NY the son of the late Clayton and Marion Gere Chapman. Ted was a Veteran of the Korean War serving his country with the U.S. Air Force. He married his wife Loretto C. Meade Chapman on May 16, 1954 and she pre-deceased him on September 23, 1995. Ted was also pre-deceased by his brother Robert Chapman and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law William and Evelyn Meade , Mary Louise "Mae" Meade Dickinson and Bud Dickinson , and Jim Rounsville .Ted was a founding member and Deputy Chief of The Town and Country Fire Department for many years. He loved hunting and was a long-time member of the Horseheads American Legion Post #442. Ted had worked at Thatcher Glass and Anchor Glass in Elmira Heights for many years . He was a retired machinist at Schweizer Aircraft in Horseheads,NY . Mr. Chapman is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law: Connie and William Ryan of West Seneca , NY and Debra and Charles "Charlie" Santi Jr. of Horseheads, NY ; grandchildren: David Ryan and D. J. Hill; Kyle and Samantha Ryan; Daryl and Laura Ryan; great grandchildren: Carter Jamieson Ryan and Adalynn Jane Ryan; sister: Betty Rounsville of Elmira, NY; several nieces, nephews, cousins , and a host of caring friends. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY on Wednesday January 23, 2019 from 6-8 PM. Ted's Funeral Services will be held on Thursday January 24, 2019 at the Funeral Home at 11AM where Full Military Honors will be accorded Mr. Chapman. Ted will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife Loretto in Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads, NY. Flowers are acceptable or memorials may be made in Ted's memory to the Town and Country Fire Department 130 Gardner Road Horseheads,NY 14845.
