Obituary of Daniel J. Nicholas

DANIEL J. NICHOLAS SR. Age 65 passed away on August 2, 2019 in Elmira, NY where he lived . He was born March 27, 1954 in Ogdensburg, NY the son of the late George Mark Nicholas Sr. and Laura "Fannie" MacIntosh Nicholas – Smith. Dan graduated from Carthage High School in 1972. He worked for Stebbins Engineering for over 20 years and then as an LPN at the Chemung County Nursing Facility in Elmira, NY until 2015. Dan is survived by his son Jamie Nicholas of Clayton,NY . He was pre-deceased by his son Daniel J. Nicholas Jr. on August 17, 2005. Dan had married the mother of his children Barbara Umstead-Keil and they were divorced. He is also pre-deceased by his step-father Mel Smith. Dan is survived by his brother George M. Nicholas Jr. ; his sisters: Cindy Perry, Diane Secor, Vicky Babcock, Laurie Nadeau, Tina Nicholas, and Darlene Nicholas ; several nieces, nephews, cousins , and a host of caring friends. Dan was involved with the Alexandria Bay Cub Scouts , Boy Scouts , The Alexandria Bay School Marching Band, and The Redwood Fire Department. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR.. There will be a Celebration of Dan's Life on Sunday September 22, 2019 from 1 to 4 PM at The Clayton American Legion 855 Graves Street Clayton, NY.
