Obituary of Thomas L. Saunders

THOMAS L. SAUNDERS age 69 of Horseheads, NY passed away on Wednesday February 5, 2020 at home surrounded by his loving family. Tom was born June 9, 1950 in Corning, NY the son of the late Robert L. and Ila Case Saunders Sr. He married his wife, Debra M. Jones Saunders, on September 7, 1974 and they celebrated their 45th Wedding Anniversary on September 7, 2019. Tom loved fishing, baseball, and playing hid guitar. He was a retired employee of The Big Flats Community Center. In addition to his parents, Tom was pre-deceased by his brother Robert L. Saunders Jr. Tom loved his family and friends and treasured the time he spent with them. Tom is survived by his loving and devoted wife Debra M. Saunders ; daughters and son-in-law : Sara and Joe Seymour and Shannon Saunders all of Horseheads, NY; grandchildren: Melissa Seymour Marsh and Jesse Marsh of Montour Falls, NY and Hunter Seymour of Horseheads, NY ; sister and brother-in-law : Nancy and Leon Stonier of Tunkhannock, PA ; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Marilyn (Mrs. Robert L. Jr.) Saunders of Corning, NY and Dennis Jones of California ; several aunts, uncles , nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of caring friends and his canine buddy Crosby. It was Mr. Saunders' wish that there be no calling hours or services. In Lieu of flowers , Memorial Contributions may be made in Tom's Name to CareFirst 3805 Meads Creek Road Painted Post, NY 14870 , Chemung County SPCA, or The American Cancer Society.
