John Gough was one of the kindest, most generous, and genuine individuals I ever had the pleasure of knowing. He and his lovely wife, Ellie would always go out of their way to say hello and always inquired about my family. He was a great man and he will be missed by so many. I would like to send my prayers and thoughts to the entire Gough family. Sincerely, Rob and Amy Taft

John was a great family man and role model for many. I always looked up to him and appreciated the caring him and Ellie gave to my parents throughout their lives. His qualities were what being a Christian is all about. He gave from the heart and was loved by many. God Bless the Gough family. I will always remember John and Ellie’s kindness in sending me a congratulatory card for baseball back in High School. They were also so supportive of my wife throughout her nursing career and meant so much to her! God Bless you John.

So sorry to learn of John's passing. I had the opportunity to work with him at the Elmira Sports Banquet that he was a part of. I have been blessed to know the Gough family. Tom hired me 8 years ago.I think being a huge ND fan had alot to do with it. I first met John and Elle after they sold the house on greenridge. Soon after the new house flooded after a serious rain. I waked in and said.. I know you guys miss your swimming pool but isnt this carrying things too far. They laughed it made them feel better. Last year I had the honor of being on MrGs golf team. Memories I will carry with me forever. May god hold him in the palm of his hand.

Dear Mrs. Gough, Patti, Karen, Kathy, and Tommy.
I'm so sad to hear the passing of Mr. Gough. He was such an inspiration to all us Long's throughout our lives. It seems all our hero's we had growing up are slowly passing and I'm deeply sadden. I will always cherish our family gatherings to Florida and Kueka lake. We were all so fortunate to be around him and his selfless nature. If only our current leaders could have half of his compassion, patience, wisdom and understanding. He was truly a pillar in our community and a tremendous role model for us all. I'm so sadden for your loss but I know the Polish Navy was waiting for him with open arms.

In my younger days , I lived at Yorkshire apt and worked at Marine Midland bank, and was pregnant for my second child, your dad stopped at the bank to give me a gift for the baby. Now what LandLord does that? I will keep you all in my prayers.

Kathy and I offer our condolences to Ellie and family.
The world lost a shining light that made this world a better place.
The last time we saw John was at local hot dog restuarant. I walked by John and said hello and introduced myself. He looked at me and said I know who you are. I was surprised since we only saw them at the Ruhmel Christmas parties. Later he came over to our table and talked with us and asking how our mom was doing.
It made use feel special that he would take the time from his busy life.
May John rest in peace!
