Obituary of Richard C. Sauerzopf

The Rev. Fr. Richard C. Sauerzopf Age 53 of Horseheads, NY passed away on Saturday August 29, 2020. Richard was born on February 3, 1967, the son of Robert and the late Elizabeth Sauerzopf. He was also predeceased by his niece Grace Sauerzopf and Uncle Robert Snyder. Richard was a graduate of Notre Dame High School in Elmira, NY. Richard received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from St. John Fisher College, his Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy Degrees in Political Science from State University at Albany, Rockefeller College. He received his Master of Divinity Degree at Bexley Hall Seminary, Columbus, Ohio. He held teaching and research positions at Wayne State University and Michigan State University. He was ordained as a Priest in Holy Orders with the Episcopal Diocese of Michigan. Richard was associated with numerous Professional Associations. He is survived by his father Robert C. Sauerzopf, brother John Sauerzopf of Apollo, Pa; sister and brother-in-law Katherine and Jay Yuelling of Lindley, NY; nephews Jeffrey Yuelling, Tyler Yuelling, and Charles Knerien; aunts and uncle: Jack and Jan Higham of Vestal, NY, Barbara Snyder of Stuart, Virginia; several cousins and a host of caring friends. A private funeral followed by Internment in Rural Home Cemetery will take place at the convenience of the family.
