Obituary of Ray T. Cranmer
CRANMER , RAY T. Age 81 of Lakeland , Florida formerly of Horseheads , NY passed away on Saturday December 28 , 2013 . Ray was born June 25 , 1932 in Blossburg , PA the son of the late Darwin Cranmer and Celia Howey Cranmer Smith . He was a Korean War Veteran serving his country with The U.S. Navy Seabees . Ray married his wife , Gloria Sheaffer Cranmer , on July 23 , 1956 and they celebrated their 57th Wedding Anniversary on July 23 , 2013. Ray retired as the Central Office Foreman for New York Telephone in Horseheads , NY with over 41 years of dedicated service . He was a member and Past Commander and Past President of The Board of Bentley-Trumble American Legion Post # 442 in Horseheads , NY . Ray was a 32nd Degree Mason and Past Master of Horseheads Old Oak Lodge #364 F&AM , Member of The Corning Consistory , The Kalurah Shrine , The Cashmere Grotto , and member of the Shriners' Band . He was Past President of The Elmira-Corning Telephone Pioneers , Past President and Chairman of The Town of Veteran Planning Board , Past President of The Watkins Glen Baptist Church Brotherhood , and Past President and Treasurer of The Connecticut Hill Horseshoe Club. Ray was pre-deceased by his daughter Jolene Marie Cranmer on November 27 , 1980 . He loved his family and friends and treasured the time he spent with them. Ray is survived by his loving and devoted wife Gloria Sheaffer Cranmer ; his beloved children : Michael T. Cranmer of Lakeland , Florida , Gale A. Cranmer Victor of Lakeland , Florida , and Devin A. Cranmer of Luray , Virginia ; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren ; sisters and brother-in-law : Cleone & Kelsey Carleton of Tioga , PA , Claire Hare of Cal Nev Ari , Nevada , and Paula Kress of Wellsville , NY ; brother and sister-in-law : Rev. Darwin & Mary Cranmer of Wellsboro , PA ; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law : Linda Sheaffer of Wellsboro , PA , Jacqueline & Robert Young of Linden , PA , Dianne & Duncan Williams of Lakeland , Florida and Pennsylvania , Judith & Douglas English of Mansfield , PA , Kimberli Sheaffer & Jody Patterson of Dallastown , PA , and Karen & Richard Taylor of Elmira , NY; several nieces , nephews , cousins ,a nd a host of caring friends . Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS , NY on Friday January 3 , 2014 from 11 AM to 1 PM . Officers and Members of Horseheads American Legion Post # 442 will conduct a Memorial Service for their Departed Comrade at 1 PM at The Funeral Home on Friday January 3 , 2014 . Officers and Members of Old Oak Lodge #364 of Horseheads will conduct a Masonic Memorial Service for their Departed Brother following The Legion Memorial Service. Ray's Funeral Services will be conducted by his brother Rev. Darwin Cranmer . Ray will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads , NY next to his beloved daughter Jolene. Full Military Honors will be accorded Mr. Cranmer at Maple Grove Cemetery.
