Obituary of Joseph E. Johnson

JOHNSON , JOSEPH E. SR. Age 76 of Sayre, PA formerly of Horseheads , NY passed away on Sunday January 5 , 2014 at home surrounded by his loving family . Joseph was born March 21 , 1937 in East Troy , PA the son of the late LeRoy T. "Babe" Johnson and Marion Belle Porter Johnson . He was a graduate of Sayre High School . Mr. Johnson married his wife , Elizabeth "Betty" May Johnson on April 6 , 1957 and they would have celebrated their 57th Wedding Anniversary on April 6 , 2014. Joseph retired from Ingersoll- Rand in Painted Post , NY after 28 years of dedicated service . He owned and operated his farm for several years and loved his tractors and was a stock car driver for many years. Joseph loved his family and friends and treasured the time he spent with them. Mr. Johnson is survived by his loving and devoted wife Elizabeth "Betty" May Johnson ; his children : Joanne Sherwood of Big Flats , NY , Cindy & Rob Harris of Big Flats , NY , Joseph E. & Angel Johnson Jr. of St. Louis , MO , and Craig & Tammy Johnson of Austin , Texas ; nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren ; sister and brother-in-law : Allien & Allen Rightmire of Sayre , PA ; brother and sister-in-law : LeRoy & Claudia Johnson of Tucson , AZ ; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law : Jane Austin of Glen St. Mary , Florida , Marion Reynolds of Lake City , Florida , Loretta & Herbert Snodericker of Melbourne Beach , FL ,Leila White of Phillipsburg , Montana , and Clara White of Lake City , Florida ; several nieces , nephews , cousins , and a host of caring friends. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS , NY on Thursday January 9 , 2014 from 6-8 PM . Mr. Johnson's Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Friday January 10 , 2014 at 11 AM . Interment in Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads , NY.
