Obituary of Thomas Hurley Brown

Thomas Hurley Brown Age 29 of Elmira, NY passed away on Sunday January 17, 2021 at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, NY. Thomas was born May 19, 1991 in Elmira, NY the son of Richard E. and Camille Hurley Brown. He was a graduate of Notre Dame High School Class of 2009. Thomas received degrees in Ontario, Canada from Fleming College and Trent University. He was working for Delta Water Fowl in Manitoba, Canada. Tom loved playing hockey and everything outdoors. He loved his family and friends and treasured the time he spent with them. Thomas touched the lives of countless people and gave the gift of life as he donated his heart, kidneys, eyes, and tissue; because of this, his kindness will live on in others. Thomas was pre-deceased by his grandparents Leon B. and Nadine Gaylor Brown and Thomas J. Hurley, his namesake. He was also pre-deceased by his aunt and uncle Vaughn and Dominic Palmieri. Thomas was a man of the land not only in America but also in Canada, where he was passionate about wildlife; especially ducks, deer, and fish. While in Alberta, Canada, he was an avid waterfowl researcher for the University of Waterloo, Ontario. His current position was Marsh Manager at Delta Waterfowl in Manitoba, Canada. From a very young age, Tom excelled in athletics, including hockey, soccer, and lacrosse. Hockey was his first passion that continued past high school. He spent countless hours skating on our family pond. He played Jr. 'B' Hockey, for the Elmira Jr. Jackals and the Syracuse Stars. He then went on to play Jr. 'A' hockey for the Temiscaming Royals in Quebec, Canada. He pursued his passion for hockey at the collegiate level at Fleming College in Lindsay, Ontario. Tom was still playing hockey as a young adult. He has left behind countless friends form both Canada and America. His heart will always beat on. The Brown's want to extend their sincerest thanks to his extended family, especially friends (#FTB) and the Mac's family for all their support given to Thomas not only throughout his entire life but also in this most difficult time. Thomas is survived by his parents Richard E. "Brownie" Brown and Camille Hurley Brown ; sister and brother-in-law: Samantha and Christopher Markham and their son Patrick Hurley Markham of Rochester, NY; maternal grandmother : Ursula (Mrs. Thomas J.) Hurley of Elmira, NY; aunts and uncles and cousins; Kim and Owen Grant and their children Thomas Noble and Jessica Barrett of Craig, Colorado , Ronald and Joan Brown of Kentwood, MI , Sharon and Robert Joralemon of Horseheads, NY , Donna and Douglas Coles of Horseheads, NY; Tim and Jennifer Coles of Pittsburgh, PA, Scott and Monica Coles of Syracuse, NY , Chris Brown of Michigan , Kim and Andy Scott of Michigan , Schelle and Allen Slater of Elmira, NY, Brian Howard of Dewittsville, New York , and Fredrick and Shannon Howard of Elmira, NY and many extended family members and friends, especially his close hunting buddy Robbie. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY on Monday January 25 , 2021 from 2 to 6 PM to celebrate Thomas's Life .
