Obituary of Mary E. Snyder

Mary E. Snyder age 95 formerly of Elmira Heights, NY passed away on Monday March 29, 2021 at St. Joseph's Skilled Nursing Facility. Mary was born November 8, 1925 in Elmira, NY the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Thayer Sheahan. After Mr. Sheahan died , Mrs. Sheahan married Levi Waters who helped raise Mary. Mary married her husband, Mark G. Snyder, on April 11, 1953 and he pre-deceased her on February 7, 2005. In addition to her parents, she was also pre-deceased by her brother Thomas Sheahan Jr. and by her sister Margaret E. Sheahan Kelly. Mary was a former communicant of St. Charles Borromeo Church in Elmira Heights, NY. She was a charter member of the Horseheads Elks Lodge #2297 WOES. Mary was a retired employee of Marine Midland Bank in Elmira, NY. Mary is survived by three generations of nieces and nephews and especially "The Kelly Kids" Suzanne Henderson, John & Lisa Kelly, James Kelly, Mary Jo & Gary Earley, and Katie Kelly who cared for her. Mary's Family would like to thank the 5A Skilled Nursing Staff at St. Joseph's Hospital for their kind and compassionate care given to Mary during her stay. It was Mrs. Snyder's wish that there be no prior calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday April 6, 2021 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary's Church 224 Franklin Street Elmira, NY. Father Rick Farrell will be the Celebrant of Mary's Mass. Mary will be laid to rest with her beloved husband Mark in St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery in Elmira, NY.
