Jacob E. Trimmer V entered this world on August 23, 1932 in Carlisle, PA. Jake departed on May 22, 2021 peacefully at home in Horseheads, NY surrounded by his loved ones. He was the son of Jacob E. Trimmer IV and Gladys J. Lyter Trimmer. He is survived by his wife Barbara Van Dusen Trimmer, and the mother of his children Ann Lay Trimmer; sister: Corinne T. Stuart of Williamsville, NY; son: Jacob E. and Cathleen Trimmer VI of Cary, NC; daughter: Erica L. Trimmer of Apex, NC; his beloved granddaughters: Megan Trimmer, Madison Trimmer, and Sarah Stanton; step-children: Michael and Katherine Stanton of Horseheads, NY, Mark Stanton of Elmira, NY; plus numerous cousins, nephews, and friends throughout the United States. Jake graduated from Carlisle High School where he earned letters in Track and Football. He also was a graduate of Gettysburg College and did his graduate work at Southern Illinois University. A portion of his college years were interrupted by the Korean War where he served in the U.S. Navy as a Medical Corpsman. Moving to Horseheads in 1962 as a Pharmaceutical Salesman he continued his interest in hunting and fishing. He joined Beaverbrook Rod & Gun Club and the Chemung County Federation of Sportsman where over the years he held every office. Considering his strong interests in conservation, Jake along with others were instrumental in helping to organize local chapters of Trout Unlimited, The Ruffed Grouse Society, and The Twin Tiers Five Rivers Chapter of the Federation of Fly Fishers. Jake also enjoyed trying flies, skeet shooting, photography and his times with friends at Fur, Fins & Feathers Rod & Gun Club. In Lieu of flowers those wishing may remember Jake thru memorials to a charity of one's choice. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY on Thursday May 27, 2021 from 3-7 PM.
