Obituary of Sonja H. DePalma

Sonja H. DePalma Age 82 of Montour Falls, NY formerly of Horseheads, NY passed away on Sunday December 13, 2020.  She was born on January 27, 1938 in Elmira, NY the daughter of the late James B. Baker and Loretta E. Hardenstine Baker Hatt.  Sonja enjoyed crocheting and used her creativity by painting and playing the piano.  She had a true love of animals, especially her cats.  She married her husband Michael G. DePalma on December 13, 1975 and he pre-deceased her on April 11, 2013.  She was also pre-deceased by her sister Ida Mae Baker and brother-in-law: Wayne Hicks.  Mrs. DePalma is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Terry V. and Debra Bola of Silver Spring, MD.; daughters and sons-in-law: Kim Anne and William Strosahl Jr. of Candor, NY; Jill and Anthony Agosta of Corning, NY; Michael’s children: Michael G. and Jane DePalma Jr. Cowan, Robert DePalma Cowan , Beverly and Chester Vigus, Mary Jane and Allen Taylor, and Betty Jane Nichols ; several grandchildren, great grandchildren; sister: Loretta Darlene (Mrs. Wayne) Hicks of Lockwood, NY; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Justin DePalma Jr.; Charles and Sherry DePalma; Karen Dodson; Roseann Unwin; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of caring friends.  A special Thank You to the staff at Bethany Courtyards and to Seneca View Nursing Facility for the compassion and care given to Sonja.   In Lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Sonja’s name to your local SPCA.  Gravesite Services for Sonja will be held on Tuesday August 3, 2021 at 11 AM at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Elmira, NY.
