Obituary of Gardell Ernest Lewyn Moon

Gardell Ernest Lewyn Moon age 87 of Horseheads, NY passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday March 24, 2022. He was born April 8, 1934 in Owego, NY the son of the late Elmer and Maude Emily Backer Moon. He was also pre-deceased by his grandson Jeremy Moon and his brothers and sisters. Gardell married his wife Gladys Johnson Moon on November 6, 1954 and they would have celebrated their 68th Wedding Anniversary this year. He worked on the railroad as a teen, Fairway Springs, Copper's Creosote Plant, and Zeiser Vault Company. Gardell worked at the A & P Plant from the day it opened until the day it closed . He worked at Chemung Electronic and retired when it became Chemung Computers. He then worked as a bus driver for The Horseheads School District until he retired. Gardell loved his family and friends and treasured the time he spent with them. Gardell is survived by his loving and devoted wife Gladys J. Moon ; his children: Lucy Moon , Dan Moon , Ron & Donna Moon, Cris Moon, and Sheila Bird ; grandchildren: Gary Wagers , Marissa & Matt Beach , Matt & Samantha Moon , Fawn Moon , Lewyn Moon, Michelle Bird , and Mike Bird ; several great grandchildren , nieces , nephews , cousins , and many friends. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS,NY on Thursday March 31, 2022 from 5 to 7 PM.
