Obituary of Rodney C. Dayton

Rodney C. Dayton age 68 of Horseheads, NY passed away on Tuesday April 5, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family. Rod was born March 25, 1954 in Montour Falls, NY the son of Charles and Marilyn Brink Dayton. He married his wife, Ceceilia A. Berlozan, on November 22, 1975 and they would have celebrated their 47th Wedding Anniversary this year. Rod was a Master Carpenter having worked for the Horseheads School District and Elmira Structures . He played lead guitar for several bands in the area and most recently with "Still Kickin". Rod was pre-deceased his father Charles Dayton , his father-in-law Michael N. Berlozan, and brothers-in-law Lafayette Miller and Clifford Harvey. Rod loved his family and friends and treasured the time he spent with them. Rod is survived by his loving and devoted wife Ceceilia A. Dayton ; his children: Nicole L. Dayton Evans , Joshua M. Dayton , and Justine M. Dayton Hoffman and Cordell Holmes ; grandchildren: Derek Micheler, Trenton Dayton , Correion Holmes , Alena Holmes , Lincoln Holmes , Quinn Holmes , and Nova Holmes ; mother: Marilyn Dayton ; brother: Dan Dayton ; sister and brother-in-law: Charlene & Tom Talley ; mother-in-law: Colista Berlozan ; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law : Pat Beemer , Ruth Payne , Mary Case , Al Miller , and Donna Seymour; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins , and a host of caring friends including an special niece and nephew Kali Dayton and Travis Dayton. A Celebration of Rod's Life will be held on Sunday May 1, 2022 at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS,NY from 2 to 5 PM. A Private Burial for Rod will be on Tuesday May 3, 2022 in Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads, NY with Pastor Laura Daly officiating .
