Obituary of Peter J. Verbanic

Peter J. Verbanic age 66 of Horseheads, NY passed away on Saturday November 26, 2022. He was born August 4, 1956 in Orange, CA the son of the late Francis Verbanic and Shirley Westlake Verbanic-Cochrane. Peter was also pre-deceased by his brother David G. Verbanic on July 29, 2021 and his sister-in-law Virginia "Ginny" Verbanic on May 23, 2019. His mother Shirley Westlake Verbanic-Cochrane recently passed away on October 30, 2022. Peter was a kind and gentle man who enjoyed helping others and collecting memorabilia. He was a devoted NASCAR fan, always attending races and sporting events. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Peter is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law: Mark and Pamela Verbanic of Hillsborough, NC , Steven Verbanic of Cohocton, NY , and Cheryl "Shay" (Mrs. David) Verbanic of Horseheads, NY ; step-father: Donald F. Cochrane of Horseheads, NY; nieces and nephews: Bob, John, Johnny, Emily, Haley (Kevin), Jennifer, Rebecca (Greg), Michael (Kristen), and Julia; several great nieces and nephews; cousins and a host of caring friends. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY on Sunday December 4, 2022 from 2-4 PM. A Committal Service for Peter will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 4PM. Peter will be laid to rest in Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads, NY next to his mother.
