Obituary of Susan C. O'Rourke- Gee

Susan C. O'Rourke-Gee age 66 of Elmira Heights, NY passed away on Tuesday March 7, 2023. Susan was born July 5, 1956 in Elmira, NY the daughter of the late Andrew and Rita Murray O'Rourke. She was a graduate of Thomas A. Edison High School Class of 1975 and received her Associate's Degree from Corning Community College. Susan was a life-time communicant and Sunday School Teacher at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Elmira Heights, NY. She was the first woman hired by The Chemung County Sherrif's Department and worked at the 911 Call Center until her retirement. Susan was pre-deceased by her father Andrew O'Rourke on February 9, 1969 and by her mother Rita Murray O'Rourke on August 27, 2014. She was also pre-deceased by her sister Kimberly O. McNaney on July 22, 1999 as well as a special cousin Lynn Warwick. Susan married her husband, Charles E. Gee, on June 8, 2019 and they would have celebrated their Fourth Wedding Anniversary this June. Susan was so proud of her Irish Heritage and enjoyed St Patrick's Day to its fullest. Susan is survived by her husband Charles E. Gee ; sisters and brothers-in-law: Jacqueline and Michael Cruttenden of Horseheads, NY , Amy and James Warner of Big Flats, NY , and Melissa O'Rourke of Big Flats, NY ; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Joseph and Sharon McNaney of Big Flats, NY , Patricia and Larry Libka of LaFayette , Indiana , and Marshall and Dianne Gee of Oakley, CA; aunt: Yvonne Loop of Endwell, NY ; several nieces, nephews, grand nieces , grand nephews , cousins , and a host of caring friends including those officers she worked with during her career. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET on Monday March 13, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8PM. Susan's Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday March 14, 2023 at 1 PM. Susan will be laid to rest in Rural Home Cemetery in Big Flats, NY. It was Susan's request that in lieu of flowers , she be remembered through memorial contributions to St. Jude's Children Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN or The Shriner's Hospital.
