
Obituary of Melvin H. Lee
Melvin H. Lee (Mel) Age 92 of Horseheads passed away on Tuesday March 7, 2023 at the Corning Guthrie Hospital. Mel was born in Syracuse, NY on August 10, 1930 to the Rev. Henry Lee and Jennie West Lee. In addition to his parents, Mel was pre-deceased by a brother, Edward; sister, Marion; niece, Mary; granddaughter Tara Martin and a great great grandson Damon.
Mel is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Bonnie Lee; daughters: Lori Lee of Horseheads, and Lisa and James Doyle of Harrisonburg, VA; grandchildren: Jessica Paul, and Shane and Abi Doyle; great grandchildren: Ariana Foley, Lilly Doyle, and Raelynn Doyle; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Eugene and Mary Bush of Elmira Heights; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of caring friends.
Mr. Lee served his country with the U.S. Air Force in the Air-Sea Rescue division after graduating from Utica Free Academy. He was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Horseheads Masonic Lodge, a Lifetime member of the Horseheads Elks Lodge #2297, the American Legion, and most recently was involved with the Retired Lions Club.
At Mel's request there will be no services planned for now. A gravesite service will be held in the summer at a time to be announced in Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads, NY.
In Lieu of flowers those wishing may remember Mel through donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Wounded Warrior Project, or to the Horseheads Animal Shelter.
